VA Fashion Week Mission Statement

VA Fashion Week was formed in 2007 with the purpose of showcasing emerging designers and models from up and down the East Coast and to establish a world-class fashion event in Southeastern Virginia. After seven seasons of growth and increased recognition we are enthusiastically planning VAFW 2014 to be the year that surpasses all expectations.

The VAFW Team

Ann Leister is the owner and director of Splash Model Management and has produced or co-produced muliple fashion shows; including a show for Operation Smile featuring designers including Versace, Missoni, Moschino and others. In addition, she has cast actors and models in regional and national commercials, TV shows, magazines and ad campaigns as well as placed models with agencies in major markets. She has a BA from The College of William & Mary and experience in real estate, advertising, human resources, video production, and the arts. Ann regularly attends fashion events in New York including Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, as well as shows in Washington DC, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Miami, Ann created the concept that has become VA Fashion Week as a way to bring NY style fashion shows to the Hampton Roads area and to spotlight the design talent, models, and creative talent that call this region home.


Ron Cooke is a nationally recognized fashion coordinator and stylist to the celebrities having produced fashion shows during New York’s Fashion Week as well as in DC, Atlanta, Miami, and other regions. His company Rogue Productions has worked with world renown designers, politicians, athletes, musicians, and actors. Ron is also an established stylist having dressed an assortment of today’s hottest celebrities including Alicia Keys, Danny Glover, Lela Rashon and many others for various magazines, commercials, and events. Ron has worked with Ann on VA Fashion Week from the first show on. Ron will be coordinating many of the designer shows, as well as organizing many of the backstage activities in VA Fashion Week.



Cookie Dabney from Washington, D.C. has been an active part of the modeling industry for the past 35 years. She has worked the Runways for major designers and been featured in magazines and tv commercials around Hampton Roads and the country. She has worked for internationally notable designers such as Liz Claiborne, Patrick Kelley, and Mary McFadden to name a few. The Director of Cookie Dough Ltd., she is currently the “Official” Runway Coach for VAFW and teaches Runway Modeling to students who range in age from 13 on up as well as the Childrens’ Coordinator for the Naturally Me” Pageants being featured in Virginia and Washington, D.C.  



JA Leister, assistant to the producers, has been helping with fashion shows for the past seven years. Currently studying at The College of William & Mary, she is available to assist any designer with their set-up, fittings, dressers, and any needs or concerns they may have. She also is a contributing writer for several blogs and media publications and will work with all participants in promoting their brand.  



Born in Newport News, VA, Patrick Mamou graduated from The College of William & Mary with a B.A. in Studio Art. In 2001 after founding and touring nationally with avant-garde artist collective Jazz Poets Society, Patrick scouted talent for Tim & Daphne ReidŐs New Millennium Studios. Since then Mamou honed both his creative and business acumen as a studio owner / songwriter, concert producer, magazine editor and brand manager. Today Patrick heads Virginia-DC based agency The Marketing Group, and is serving as VA Fashion Week's Chief Branding Officer.  



Richard Spano joins the VAFW team for 2012 as Production & Logistics Coordinator. Richard comes to us after many years and over 200 events as production/events director for the VA Arts Festival, chairman of the Hampton Bay Days and many other area events. His expertise in tent set-up, staging, lighting, and sound will be a major asset to our 2012 shows. Richard is also a well known and respected area and often performs with Lewis McGee.  



Naoma Doriguzzi describes herself as "an average woman who has embraced technology". She is a professional vlogger, blogger, and social networker with an expertise in marketing and promotion. She comes to VAFW as a marketing consultant, and will be working with us in promoting the event to both potential sponsors and consumers. Check out her website asknaoma.com
